Watching a TV series expanded this Economics major’s vocabulary. Studying in the Netherlands has made him realise how much he benefits from previous English learning. Reading Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings in English exposed him to English linguistic culture.

Staying with a host family while studying in Australia was a cultural exchange and English learning experience for this Finance major. She watched the TV series Prison Break and read the English and Chinese subtitles.

Watching TV dramas such as Prison Break and Heroes helped enhance this Language Culture and Community major’s speaking and listening. He read a book about Asian film history for his PhD and he found it quite challenging.
