Extra-curricular tutorials during primary school were more relaxing than formal lessons for this Engineering major. She’s a fan of Shakespeare’s Hamlet and the Merchant of Venice.

Using English at school enabled this Business major to learn the language ‘unconsciously’. Although her teacher chose Of Mice and Men and The Merchant of Venice for IB literature she enjoyed them.

Reading The Merchant of Venice was very difficult for this Engineering major as he had to check the dictionary for every line. His teacher always told him to read the South China Morning Post but he thinks the articles on the BBC are much easier to understand.

When this Geomatics major first arrived in Canada, he was sent to an ESL class to learn about the basics of the language. English is important for one to survive in the world. It took him two months to read The Merchant of Venice.
