Eating lunch with his secondary school English teacher gave this student an opportunity to learn more phrases and vocabulary. He read Hamlet and Macbeth in junior secondary and now reads The Economist to help with his BBA studies.

Requiring students to speak with teachers in English only provided a natural learning environment for this Occupational Therapy major. She also communicated with her classmates on social media using the language. She likes novels such as Gone Girl, Before I Go to Sleep, and Harry Potter.

After studying lyrics in secondary school, this Mechanical Engineering student fell in love with English songs. Her favourite bands are Westlife and My Chemical Romance. She prefers design books but has read some of Shakespeare’s works including Macbeth.

Writing and acting in a secondary school drama was hard for this China Studies major. She has started many books but not finished them and did book reports by skimming. She finds it difficult to grasp analects and Confucius when taught in English.

Extra-curricular English tutorials during primary school were fun for this Global Studies major. She studied Macbeth in secondary school and later travelled to Edinburgh where she learned more about the history of the play. She also likes Oscar Wilde, Barbara Demick, and many others.

NETs in primary school seemed more fun to this Finance major because they made jokes. In secondary school, another NET introduced him to Shakespeare’s Macbeth and Hamlet.

Performing Macbeth in junior secondary was an interactive learning experience for this Cultural Management major. She studied Literature in English during senior secondary. Lord of the Flies is remarkable because it talks about human nature as an evil thing.

A secondary school literature class led by NETs who gave candy as a reward motivated this Science major. She remembers the violent side of Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth.

A NET helped this China Studies major analyse, modify and perform Shakespeare’s Macbeth in class. Although she regards Falling Leaves: The True Story of an Unwanted Chinese Daughter as a ‘heavy’ book for a Primary 6 student, it inspired her.

A secondary school NET taught Shakespeare’s Macbeth to this European Studies major and encouraged her to write and speak. She read the whole Twilight series in about a week.

A study tour to the UK allowed this Science and Engineering major to use the language outside the classroom and experience the British culture. He read Shakespeare’s Macbeth and the Tempest in secondary school literature class. He also read the South China Morning Post.

A teacher from high school helped this BBA major with his English when he first moved to Hong Kong. He had to read Macbeth, watch the movie adaptation, and perform the drama for a school assignment.
