Studying and performing the works of Shakespeare are the highlights of this English Literature major’s language learning. She likes Much Ado About Nothing for its humour; she acted in King Lear. She also read Fahrenheit 451 and Dubliners.

An NET showed this Chinese major it is important to know the culture and values in a language. He enjoys reading world literature such as Italo Calvino and Franz Kafka as well as watching movies without subtitles.

The feeling that she couldn’t express herself in complete sentences when speaking with foreigners motivated this English major to work harder. She checked the dictionary and wrote down the Chinese meanings while reading Harry Potter.

Watching movies with English subtitles contributed to this Public Policy major’s learning experience. She enjoys reading short stories and her favourites include the Elbow Room collection, stories by Alice Walker and Raymond Carver.
