A primary school programme let this student become friends with a Canadian child through letter writing. She has read CNN news and course material for engineering.

A teacher corrected this student’s pronunciation during her undergraduate studies. She also practised English by listening to the radio and accessing the BBC and CNN. She also did an Intensive Reading Course and read newspapers.

Starting from kindergarten, this Creative Media major felt her parents, especially her mum, forced her to learn English. She attended a special English-speaking kindergarten and was forced to watch CNN and the BBC. Reading is difficult because she has to check words in the dictionary.

A foreign teacher helped this student to improve his speaking skills in secondary school. He also watches programming on BBC and CNN. He read a lot while preparing for IELTS, and also during a university language course.

This Business major not only learnt drama from a NET but improved his English during the process and later showcased his skills in a competition. He likes to read blogs and news websites such as BBC and CNN.

Interviewing foreigners in Stanley during high school was a good way to practise this English major’s speaking skills. Reading WhatsApp messages showed her how English is localised in Hong Kong. She also reads the BBC and CNN online.

Watching news reports helped improve this Information Engineering major’s listening skills. He read For One More Day but hasn’t finished it yet due to the many distractions around.
