The HALL Project
The Hong Kong Archive of Language Learning (HALL) is a University Grants Committee-funded language project led by the Department of English at City University of Hong Kong (CityU), in collaboration with the University of Hong Kong (HKU) and the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK). The project aims to develop an online platform that collects, archives and disseminates Hong Kong English learners’ stories about how they learn and use English. HALL serves the following purposes:
- Develop a public-access digital archive of personal language learning histories (in text, video, or audio formats) that provides a holistic record of the language learning practices of Hong Kong learners in academic, leisure and professional settings;
- Provide and disseminate textual and media resources for learners and teachers to learn from and be motivated by English learners’ narratives;
- Provide a resource for students, teachers and researchers to analyze language learning histories with the aim of creating more student-centred and independent learning and teaching materials.
